My work brought me and my wife to the Pontiac County in 2001.
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Sylvain Drapeau. I am a wood scaler as well as a wildlife and forest products processing technician. My wife, Caroline Desrosiers, is an elementary school teacher. We initially purchased 200 acres of land in the Municipality of Otter Lake. Now we are the proud owners of 1,200 acres.
The passion for dogsledding was passed on to me by my uncle François Bruneau, who practiced this sport since 1985. Our love for this practice convinced us to reside in the country in order to be able to enjoy our cold, harsh winters.
Our kennel now has 49 dogs, which are descendants from my uncle’s dog Mouki. We began our enterprise Escapade Huskimo in the spring of 2004. This name was chosen in honour of François’s lead dog Kimo. We changed the name in 2020 to Escapade Huskimo.
