The story begins in 2001, when work brought Caroline and me to the Pontiac region. At that time, I was working as a timber scaler and wildlife technician, while Caroline was a primary school teacher. We had the unique opportunity to purchase a magnificent 200-acre estate in the municipality of Otter Lake, a perfect place to start a new life.
Little by little, the idea of opening a business of "our own" took root. Why not a dog sledding company? Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by this sport, and it would be a beautiful way to pay tribute to the one who passed his passion on to me: my late uncle, François Bruneau, a sportsman since 1985. In fact, I was lucky enough to keep one of his dogs, Mouki, to launch my activity in 2004.
Today, our kennel includes 49 dogs—mostly descendants of Mouki's lineage. We have acquired several adjacent lots to have over 1200 acres at our disposal, hired several employees, and diversified our activities to welcome you in every season.
Caroline and I always have more ideas and projects to help you live a unique experience at Vallée des Rosiers. Even though we have kept our respective professional careers and have plenty of work, we are passionate about what we do. And we don't intend to stop anytime soon!
Fun Fact: The name Escapade Huskimo refers to Siberian Huskies, the dogs we run, but also to Kimo, my uncle François' lead dog.
